Getting Ready to Roast: Behind the Scenes at Dragon Bean Roastery

Starting a coffee roastery doesn’t begin with turning on a machine and pressing “start.”
It begins much earlier — with preparation, patience, and a lot of small details coming together.

At Dragon Bean Roastery, we’re currently in that exact phase.

Preparing the foundation

Right now, the focus is on getting everything ready for operations. That means finalizing workflows, setting up processes, and making sure that when we do start roasting and shipping, everything works smoothly — from roast consistency to packaging and delivery.

Some of the work is visible, like the webshop you’re browsing now.
A lot of it happens quietly in the background: planning roast schedules, testing procedures, refining how orders will be handled, and making sure we’re fully aligned with food safety and quality requirements.

Waiting is part of the process

A few final pieces of equipment are still on their way, and while waiting is never the most exciting part, it’s a necessary one. Specialty coffee is not something you rush — especially at the start.

This time is being used to double-check details, prepare documentation, and fine-tune everything that doesn’t require machines to be running yet. The goal is simple: when roasting begins, it should begin properly.

Why we’re sharing this

We believe transparency matters.
Rather than appearing overnight with a finished product, we want to share the journey as it unfolds — including the quieter moments of preparation.

Coffee is something most people enjoy daily, over time, not all at once. Building a roastery follows a similar rhythm.

What’s next

Once everything is in place, roasting will begin in small, carefully planned batches.
Details about the roasting setup, approach, and philosophy will be shared in future posts — step by step.

For now, thank you for stopping by, reading along, and being part of the early days of Dragon Bean Roastery.

More updates soon.
